If you are able to look at USB drives in BIOS (I think you can on some systems, but i'm not sure) take a look at it there, see how it shows up.

OK, I'm still on hold but I got Windows to recognize the old drive. I forgot to remove the jumper on the back so that the drive was configured to be a master and not a slave. I removed the jumper and now Windows recognizes it as drive F: . Slowly making progress.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.
