The beat is 'overfilled' and inelegant. The guy sounds like he's got good rythm though.

I'm actually not a big fan of hip-hop, but there are some good songs that I listen to.

Do you know about 83, Ironik, La Constellation, 2 faces le Gémeaux, TTC, Svinkels, Le Club des Losers ?

'Le Spliff' (aka 'Québec Gold'), 'Faut que tu respectes' - 83
              'Prêt à charger' - Ironik
              'J't'écoeuré' - Ironik et Narkoi
'Dans le Club', 'Girlfriends', 'J'ai soif' - TTC
'Ta chienne aime les négros' - Vague Nocturne
'Derrière mon sourire' - Sans Pression
'La vi ti neg' - Muzion

Also, try Wax Tailor, even though he's not a rapper. He mixes songs and beats and adds a touch of his own.

His mix of 'Que Sera' is awesome.

I listened to a lot of breakbeat in the nineties. I listened to a lot of Ninja Tune stuff (BTW, its a british label, not a band). Some say Hip-hop is a subgenre of breakbeat. Others say they are two different things, although they obviously influenced each other. Anyway, here are some suggestions:

                    Galvanize, by the chemical brothers:

Get yourself high, also by the Chemical brothers. Funny video, too (However, there's a problem with the clip. The Kung Fu fighter's lips are normally synced with the rap):

DJ Shadow. A classic. He describes his music has abstract hip hop. So its just him, the DJ, without one of those insipid MC's rapping.

                    Another DJ Shadow song:

Let us be lazy in everything, except in loving and drinking, except in being lazy – Lessing

That Insight one was pretty good, actually...

Tarnished by Dälek... I kinda like them. I have to be in the right mood though. And I don't know too much of them. Only just found out they had a new album out recently searching for videos by them on YouTube...
