    Well yes, through 40k.

    Terrans = Space Marines
    Zerg = Tyranids (hell, they look almost the same anyway)
    Protoss = Eldar

      - Storm of Steel by Ernst Junger
      - The Berlin Noir trilogy by Philip Kerr
      - The secret history by Donna Tartt

      A couple of Michael Moorcock stories would also make nice movies:

      - An Elric movie would be cool. I enjoyed the stories when I was a teen. Not sure if I'd enjoy them now.

      - The War Hound and the World's Pain

        I actually came into this thread to post "Foundation," but I agree it would be far better served by a thoughtful series than a movie or triology.

        Okay, next idea: Jared Diamond's Collapse, the Movie. A bunch of Easter Islanders sit around on their now-treeless isle, moaning about how f*cked they are.
        Lime roots and treachery!

            Dune would be even harder than Foundation, IMO.

              Dune was made into a movie, wasn't it?

              Patrick Stewart was in it IIRC.

                Or is it a different Dune entirely? I've never been interested in it.

                      that's why I said: "Now do it right "
                      And there's a tv serie on the 2nd and 3rd novel.

                      But Dune needs to be made into an epic movie, like LOTR
                      If Peter Jackson would only finish The Hobbit soon then he can proceed to work on Dune

                          There was a Dune miniseries (on Sci Fi?). It was better than the movie, though I don't recall if I saw the whole thing.

                            That's because Lynch ****ed it up something good. It was almost as bad as an Uwe Boll movie--and has made me unable to watch any of Lynch's other ****ing abhorrent pompous arteur bull**** since. Not only that, ****ing "weirding modules"? That's as much of a rape of the original source material as his son and Kevin J. Anderson's abominable continuations of the series.

                            Anyway, the one I'd like to see, if possible... Einstein's Dreams.

                              Yes, it was a David Lynch movie. It was a poor adaptation of the book. But it was an OK movie, IMO. I think Q Cubed is being very harsh here. I happen to like Lynch's work. Dune isn't his best movie, that's for sure. Some elements sucked, like the weirding modules. I mean, WTF? But I love the mood and the look of the movie. It had good actors, too. The story was obscure, especially if you hadn't read the book. The extended version made it a lot clearer. But its about 4 hours long, IIRC.

                                It wasn't a pretty good movie at all.

                                Patrick Stewart was in it, as Gurney Halleck.
