I'm tired of all the little social wastrels who have no money of their own getting in my way when I'm trying to procure goods and services at the local emporium. If we need to let these guttersnipes frequent the same establishments as real people like myself then we should certainly restrict them to specialised hours so that their constant dominance and mating rituals will not disturb my peaceful shopping experience.
MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The Mayfair mall is under fire for its newly instituted "parental guidance program."
The policy just went into effect Saturday and bans anyone under 18 years old from going into the mall on Fridays and Saturdays after 2 p.m. -- unless they're with an adult.
Some people were not happy about the new policy change.
Security guards and Wauwatosa police officers watched as dozens of protestors marched and chanted outside of the mall.
The group of about 50 people rallied against the mall's new program.
Asha're Porter, 15, said the mall crackdown might send some of her friends into the streets to cause trouble.
"There are some teens who ruin it for people, but it's not all of us. You can't punish all of us just because of couple of make bad choices," said Porter.
Campaign Against Violence, the group that organized the protest, said Mayfair's program hurts inner-city kids who can't get their parents to bring them to the mall. The group said that to be a part of the community, the mall should provide a safe place for kids.
Mall authorities said that the kids are always welcome, but they want them to be with an adult during peak times.
Protestors said they want Mayfair to hold a community meeting about its program.
Here's a closer look at the new rules:
# Anyone under 18 needs to be with an adult Fridays and Saturdays after 2 p.m.
# Adults must be 21 or older. They can accompany up to four minors.
# Anyone under 18 without an adult will be asked to leave the mall.
# The rules affect the entire mall, including the restaurants and movie theatre. However, Macy's and the Boston Store are not taking part.
