It's an application that uses idle processor cycles on your computer to perform scientific computations towards specific goals. I'm adding a p4 3.60 GHz. It should be better than the laptop I used back in 2004, which became unstable shortly after an intensive use of WCgrid (as a dell laptop, it had a natural tendency to overheat).

I've had my family's desktop on for about 18 months now I guess... doesn't seem that long though. I just added my laptop today, now that I've been keeping it on in one place most of the time.
