Seriously though, there is such a thing as sledding without snow. You can do it on a grass-covered hill or down a gravel or dirt slope. Either way, you're more likely to fall off and make sounds of your own than you are in soft, cushy snow.

Snow has a much lower friction coefficient than grass, gravel, dirt, or mud.
