Irrelevant, if they beleive that there only a handful of key required beliefs to be a good mainstream Sunni muslim. that doesnt mean they stand for nothing, just that not all the things they stand for are determinative of being a "heretic" or not.

There are many Orthodox Jews who disagree strongly with the followers of Rabbi Kahane, for example but who wouldnt deny that the Kahanists are Orthodox Jew, and are not heretics. This doesnt mean they stand for nothing.

Being "a cad within the law" is not the same as being a murdering terrorist. A religion that promotes terrorism is not even remotely comparable to a law that tolerates cads.
