Certainly American microbrews can be great. BUt any microbrew will have limited distribution, and who knows how long they will be on the market. Its just as hard to get some of these novelty beer from American producers as it is to get some product of some small monastery in Europe.
So sure, if I go to a bar with a huge selection of beers that caters to a adventerous beer crowd an American microbrew might be the best of the lot, but if you go to a regular bar it is very likely still the European export that ends up being the "best" beer you will find there.If you don't like reality, change it! me

No way. I'd take a Celebrator Doppelbock over Hobgoblin any day. Doppelbocks are darker than, stronger than, and, IMO, taste better than Hobgoblin. Doppelbocks are a deep, malty brown, with alcohol content starting at around 7%. Samichlaus, from Austria brewer Eggenberg, has with 14% alochol. Celebrator (Hobgoblin is around 5.3%.Originally posted by Dauphin

Norway couldn't make good beer if their life depended on it, but Sweden actually has quite a few microbreweries that are ok. And Denmark can make a decent lager. Not as good as the dutch, but still...
