Obviously you've never driven an 80's era non-Luxury euro-car before. One of my co-workers back in high school drove a Renault Le Car and it was terrible! The thing barely ran and it wasn't that old. My dad had a thing for British roadsters and always owned a couple in various states of disrepair; he dispised Lucas Electric since their parts would fail on a monthly basis. The first new car he ever bought was a Sunbeam Alpine roadster (made by British Leland) and he actually ended up paying more for repairs then the total cost of the car payments!
I did like my friend's Fiat 124 convertable as it was a sporty little roadster but the thing just would die all the time for some unknown reason. It was like a ghost inhabited the car which would break things if the proper animal sacrafics weren't performed before each use.
