        Sure, Spinkie.

        I hope to God they don't actually let you deal with numbers at your current job.

            And I notice you couldn't even work out an answer yourself.

                I can't decide if this is a bad attempt at a troll or sheer idiocy.

                Spink, I have less respect for you than for almost anybody else here. You're in with Kidicious and Slowwhand.

                  I should probably tell the organizers of all those combinatorics conferences I attend...

                    I'm an idiot as well. I think I might have failed my first exam ever. Some old course, didn't bother to do anything but go straight to the exam since I knew the stuff already, well, it was all about advanced algorithms and stuff and 'write an algorithm for' and then they gave the name of it. As in what the ****, there was algorithms in the course material I'm now supposed to remember and write it down? JEesh.. How about you give me an algorithm and I'll do what you want, modify, give you the complexity, resources it takes or what ever.. OR give me a description of the problem the algorithm will solve so I'll write it.

                    NO! 'Write down the algorithm 'I'M AN ASS', shown in lectures'. Ok.. what does I'm an ass do? Oh, that's right, I'm supposed to remember that, and it isn't even a ... universal algorithm, just like **** you DIE DIE DIEEEEE!!!!!!

                    I think I failed it. Nice one. I'll be definitely sending some feedback.
                    In da butt.

                        threadjack time:

                        how do I solve this diff. eq.?

                        y*(du/dx)+x*(du/dy)+y*u=x*exp(x)

                        u(x,y)=?

                        IIRC, the way to go wrt

                        a(x,y)(du/dx)+b(x,y)(du/dy)+c(x,y)u=d(x,y)

                        to replace u(x,y) with w(s,t),

                        with:
                        s=x
                        t=ax-by

                        but this time, this doesn't work, obviously. (t==0)

                        so?

                            I think I've forgotten everything I learned about maths after the age of 12. The thought of helping my kids with maths homework gives me the cold sweats.

                                I've gone back to my school may times. It's been 30 years now. The entire downtown area with the exception of a few building is different and totally unrecognizable. The outlying building have sprawled out even further.

                                But step out on the Quad and it's like you never left.
