    • Since it's a pretty successful movie I'm wondering if they consider making a sequel.

      • Maybe you are beyond redemption with your racism? This movie was not at all as disgusting as you make it out to be with your passive aggressive attack. I can not emphasize enough how sickening your post is.

Bloodlust? Grow up, it's a movie. Go see Disney flicks if you don't want to be upset. "oohh the movie about Spartans was violent".. Wow!!! So it wasn't just hugs and kisses? Who would have thought?!

Historical inaccuracy, hey, it's a movie, not a documentary. Even better yet, a movie based on a comic book. Let's get upset over that as well, wont' we? How about just straight up offended, let's be offended here, won't we?

Values.. yeah, let's take your word for it.

And blaablaabala about the Persian loving. Yeah yeah, we know, it's the old 'ohh but commies were not that bad'-speech, only given by commies.

Go destroy lives somewhere else, racist Persianite.

Battle of Salamis? Or the battle at the end, where the Persians were defeated?

Or maybe this time, from the other side?

I can't really think of a logical sequel to this one - unless they plan to pick up on exceptional battles throughout history.

          • You know that it is based on a comic book. I know that it is based on a comic book. Most people on CFC will know that it is based on a comic book. But does the common man in India who watches it know that?
Well, the orcs are a dead give away.

              Uhh.....

I think the racism was from the other side, with the Persians being portrayed as sick, twisted, degenerate, filthy, and bestial creatures.

My objection is not the blood, actually. It's to the glorification of said bloodiness.

And as I said, should not humans be trying to move away from bloodsport, instead of revelling in it?

The values which I described were the values of the city-state of Sparta. And the 300 were fighting for those values.

              • Well, if they do it about Salamis I'd expect them Athenians cry mindlessly "We're Athenians" all the time when they take on some island that didn't pay the tributes for the Delian League....

Seriously - no I don't think they'll make direct sequel for 300, but due to the success they will probably do another movie based on those Miller comcs (assuming he has written more than this sin city and 300 stuff - I dunno about him)

                  • yeah you're not Persian, otherwise I would have called you Persian. I called you Persianite. That's like.. really bad too.

So the Persians were cool and Xerxes was a hero? No, he was a dictator who had blood on his hands, way more than Spartans ever did or Leonidas or whoever. This is one of those Stalin vs. Hitler debates, except Xerxes vs.. who again? Right..

Glorification of blood, well let's see.. this movie is basically about the battle.. THE battle. So, it's bound to be bloody and all glory and stuff. It's just bound to be that way. There's no two ways about it. So that's why I say Disney flicks. Because if you go to see a Disney movie, and there's all this blood and joy from it, I guess a complaint is pretty valid and in place. What kind of a movie do you want to go and see that doesn't say BLOOD more like a movie about Spartans and that famous battle? Isn't that like a guarantee for blood and only blood? So I figure it has a fair warning in it. We don't have to accept it, but if we don't, then we just don't go to see it. The people who want to see it, they can just go and see it, not our problem...

The values of Sparta, I wasn't debating if the values you might have mentioned in your post are not part of Sparta or are part of it, I'm just saying values and movies, I mean come on. It's movies. Value is entertainment. Yeah, I know, I used the word's both meanings in a row. **** is crazy like that.

So yeah, go humanize Persian brutes somewhere else. And as you're doing it, why don't you also give a shoutout to nazis, Janjaweed militia, much love to khmer rouge, and special holla to your boys at Ottoman's Empire taking care of business with the Armenians.

                      • As I figured, you give up, because you can't debate the truth with your deception here. It might work somewhere, but in here it doesn't. I don't even have to shout that this is Apolyton, because you already gave up. The bottom line is: racism-not-tolerated-here.

Pekka, I'm almost in tears right now, because of laughing so hard. This is great stuff. Don't stop.

Well Batman Begins was inspired by his Year One arc. I wouldn't mind a faithful adaptation of his Daredevil "Born Again" work. They'd just have to treat the first Daredevil movie like it didn't exist.
