Ok advice here im working on a girls pc from work she went out and bought a new one so time isnt an essence. the problems she said she was having was the pc would shut its sefl off then turn on again. I ran every dam virus check i know of and it didnt produce a virus. tuber said it might be the power supply on the fritz. well Upon pluging it up she had like 1 million things running at start up. we fixed that and i havent experienced the pc shutting off. The cd writer is fried so im wondering if the power supply could have fried that and is dying. the pc is a HP pavallion what do u guys think

OK, so how do you install software, or do you just download it all?

Yeah, it's kind of hard to get stuff off optical disks when you don't have optical drives.

Alternate build using the next higher model but with similiar specs. I'm not sure what the price difference is due to.

Can't you clal them up and request that they not muck up your computer with their stupid programs?

I ended up buying this system. I called into their 800 number and spoke to a salesman who found some promotions for me which knocked the price down to $1350 (that's $250 off the online list price). With taxes it is $1471 delivered to my home. Not bad.

A friend of mine says Dell's new coupons come out on Thursday. He's saying I should cancel my order and then reorder on Thursday after I've seen the new coupon offers. Suggestions?

I was looking at almost the exact same system on Dell today but decided against it at the last moment. Would have been a totally impulse buy on my part and don't think that I can justify spending that just so that I can comfortably play huge maps on CIV...

Then had a look at getting some of the main parts (CPU, motherboard, RAM) and taking the graphics card etc from my current pc. I just know that if I try and put a pc together from scratch I'll just end up with a smoldering hunk of metal and a hole in my bank account.

The new machine arrives tomorrow but ****ing UPS won't tell me more then that it will arrive between 8am and 7pm and that someone must be home to sign for it. What a waste of a day.
