Yeah, the M1 can be an utter pig...I usually take the M11, A14, A1(M)...I change at the M18 to go to Hull but you need to make sure you get across onto the A18 (I think that's the road) when you're really "ooop North"...I've only ventured as far north (well beyond in fact) as Middlesbrough on 3 occasions...

It's of course questionable that humans care that much about killing other humans but eat other species every day without shredding a tear.
That's the fruit we seize from either being God's most important creation or being the strongest specie that therefor can survive. (strike through what you don't believe in)
Every moral system may be arbitral, but if we stick to the moral system that humans shouldn't be killed and we even condemn the killing of a dictator who killed half a million humans himself, then we should stick to our morals and accept that an unborn baby shouldn't be killed either.
It's absurd that a mother is being jailed if she kills her just born baby while we accept it if she kills the same baby a few weeks earlier.
And yes, you said it yourself, it's really arbitral to come with a appropriate point after which abortion can't happen anymore. That's why I said, look at the DNA and accept that an unborn baby has the same DNA as her born parents. (sort of) and is human for that reason.
A human is changing from conception till it's dead.
An unborn baby doesn't have the potention to become human, it already is human. It has the potention to become a grown up adult man or woman. And we accept it that that potention is cruelly destroyed by a big fat knife.
A slave has the potention to become a free man. Can people keep slaves by saying: "He only has to potention to be free, he is not free yet and can therefor be handled different then a free man?"
All living grown ups once had the potention to become a grown up, and they only reached that status because already existing grown ups gave them a change. We should protect those humans most that can't protect themselves the least. It's not for nothing that an unborn baby is being placed inside it's mothers womb. That's because that's supposebly the most safe place for such a child to be.
How horrific is the 'civilization' in which mothers murder their own child right there where it is supposed to be most safe? It's like a (born) child running to it's father when his friends are pestering him. "Help me daddy, they are coming after me" and the father says: "Come to daddy, then he takes his son in his arms and pushes a knife in his heart."
It's horrible.
And I'm glad to see that you're already getting more nuanced then most pro-abortion people.
It's REALLY impossible to objectively consider abortion in a rational way and still favour it.

If you agree, you just have to tell me the subject of the desired delegated thread, and I would post him with the mention of this agreement.
Statistical anomaly.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

Morals are invariably very relative. You'd be horrified at the thought of killing, but war has been a prevalent theme throughout history where people are killed in huge numbers. Again, another study that was performed where it was demonstrated that the vast majority of people will kill if someone in authority tells them to do so. Alas, we are not as far from pack animals as we would like to think we are, and would also like to be.

I've never supported in the time scale of a few weeks prior to birth. Actually the other way around, merely weeks after conception with the exception of mitigating medical circumstances.

It is arbitrary, and is why I would like to see a figure that definitely errs on the side of caution. For a start, people should get checked up if they suspect they have an unwanted pregnancy and the window of opportunity should be low - in the single figures of weeks following conception - or performed with a 'morning after pill' where feasible.

Yes, and so does a sperm or ovum by the same token. Without a sufficiently developed nervous system, the foetus could not be said to be sentient and until that point, is just a precursor to a human life.
A slave has the potention to become a free man. Can people keep slaves by saying: "He only has to potention to be free, he is not free yet and can therefor be handled different then a free man?"
This is a completely irrelevant. We are talking about the freedom of humans that are conscious of what is happening to them. This is not the case to a presentient foetus.
All living grown ups once had the potention to become a grown up, and they only reached that status because already existing grown ups gave them a change. We should protect those humans most that can't protect themselves the least. It's not for nothing that an unborn baby is being placed inside it's mothers womb. It is because that child cannot support itself and needs to gain warmth, protection and nutrients from its mother. From this point of view you can go into the parasitic line of enquiry - if the mother does not want that baby, then it is a parasite, as it would not survive on its own and is unwanted by its 'host'. I am not particularly a subscriber to this school of thought, but it is still a salient point.

You see, that is just emotional nonsense. You have to keep in proportion what is going on. You are not killing a person, you are killing a precursor to a person where little to no neurological development has occurred. There is no pain or suffering there. There are more than the rights and needs of a nascent human life at stake here...
