  • how do I force a widescreen monitor into 4:3 with black bars?

Or, how do I force my graphics card to do that? I want to run some non-WS games, but the WS hack is an ugly kludge (screws up the interface) and I abhor the stretching.

This is why I want a normal 4:3 monitor..

      Turn off your monitor's scaling.

Which video card do you have?

            I don't have that page...

and yes, my drivers are up-to-date.

              Define "up to date"...

                  Which version, specifically?

The option appears in the Help but not in the actual nvidia control panel

... odd. I checked in device manager and it says 7.15, even though I distinctly remember upgrading yesterday...

                        Oops.

Uninstall then reinstall your Nvidia drivers. Make sure you got the right drivers (it's not a beta, right?)

                            What the hell is 7.15?

                            100.65 is the latest.
