  • That is a false dichotomy. There is an "in between." She can have the right in some situations and not in others. In fact, I presented you with an entirely consistent system that demonstrated that fact.

    • No, the question was whether she has the right to an abortion after she has been raped. Does she or doesn't she? What is the inbetween option?

      • Oh, well to that question he answered yes.

        • Fine. Then that means by his logic that he is advocating murder...after all the potential human never chose to be there under those circumstances. You get to see where the whole argument from the pro-life stance ends up being full of holes...

          • Sigh.

There's no inconsistency. That was my point. Hierarchy of evils, here:

Forcing a woman to bear the child of her rapist
            Aborting a foetus
Forcing a woman to bear a child she willingly conceived (or conceived in a consentual act, at least)

I don't think that ranking is too implausible. I don't agree with it, but it's not internally inconsistent.

            • this whole argument is actually so silly it amazes me. the redundency of the "talking points" is so consistent between the participents that is is actually easier to defeat them.

But it is. He has clearly stated that abortion is murder and is morally unacceptable as it is the death of an innocent. This foetus is still innocent, yet he is still advocating the murder of it. Yes, it is not internally inconsistent if you apply the criteria you have applied, but this is not the case - murder is one of the ten commandments and thus should not be violated. This would, by this definition, be murder, and of an innocent to.

From our standpoint, there is no such inconsistency...

                • He explicitly said it was the choice between two evils.

                  • Yes, it is interesting how easily paradoxes arise in religions where there are absolutes.

And what was that for? I mean really Kuci, how old are you? Discuss the issue at hand or I am not going to continue talking with you

                              • Well something to do with the fact I have not been a commie for quite some time now...except to wind you lot up. It really is fascinating to see how brainwashed middle-class Americans are, so much so that when the word "Communism" is mentioned, the fangs come out and they start salivating in a Pavlovian manner. So much so that even if you are left-of-centre (I don't think there is any denying that with me, and I am certainly not ashamed of the fact) you get the McCarthyist lynchmob onto you. Not noticed what the "Faction" thread it is all about. I am sure more of your buddies will arrive to attack as well.
