"She"? That fetus was born before 24 weeks; it's obviously not a person...

We're not even talking about that, young padewan. Keep up.

Where else do you define words? Even the guy I sniped at has conceded that words definitions stem from dictionaries that "we" (the general consensus) write.

You do not comprehend -- she grew into a person with massive medical intervention that simulated a womb.

If you plopped her out without that womb-like environment, there would be no she.

If most people genuinely thought that, abortions wouldn't happen.
There are plenty of people who genuinely think that and abort nonetheless. And then they feel guilty for the rest of their lide. Kinda like closeted gays, or kinda like avowed gays who feel they are sinning.

Anyone who looks to dictionaries for a technical definition is an idiot.

Yes, you've managed to maneuver to slightly less shaky ground without the others calling you on it. Congratulations.

Overlay that map with one where homosexuality is still banned.

What a strong argument you have.

I "maneuvered" away from the discussion because the person I sniped at conceded. You are now the only person thinking word definitions are unrelated to dictionaries.

Yup, but some of them can (and have) survive on their own after 24 weeks -- well before we have the technology we have now.

Which does nothing to discredit or otherwise counter an argument that concedes this is the point, but again reverts to the keyword "general consensus".

Spiffor seems to think that definitions are related to what people mean, and that a definition written down is a book isn't a particularly firm basis for a moral code.

I dare you to live in a world where where was no standardized dictionary and all words mean something different based on whoever says it.

I take it your school has a particularly weak linguistics department?

Do you understand what the word "dictionary" means, linguistically, in the concept of a language?

I sincerely doubt that; as far as I know, all babies born that early (~24 weeks) need intensive medical care to survive. Maybe Guy can chime in and give us the lowdown...
