Just to clear a few things.
Most of Lieberman's party members are unknown to the public. Except MK Sasson, who was a former Shin Bet deputy, but is politically very weak.
The party depends on Lieberman and his quiet workhorse persona.
Lieberman is not racist, contrary to various claims. His position is very nationalistic and far right, but has little to do with race, and all to do with politics. He's for a Zionist state that would be as large as possible, but I wouldn't put beyond him to support a serious peace offer.
I am not surprised by Israel's media hatred for him and his party.
Israeli journalists are a close bunch and most of them are 'court journalists' of either one party or another - very few of them, actually having an independent position. They are also huge xenophobes and fear the russian alyiah, the russian israeli street, and anything that is not the way it was when they were kids in the 70s.
They hate lieberman because he's a threat to the classical Likkud-Labor division. They hate him because he's a "ruski".
The Israeli journalists are also very fond of old Israeli politicians because they have their courts, and they constantly blab and yap and make the journalists feel "important".
Lieberman dislikes the journalists, and is very selective about his words and actions, to avoid tricks by journalists. He has no 'court' and he doesn't do anonymous commenting which is SOOOOOO widely popular in Israel.
So he's severely disliked by the media - but gaining popularity in the public.
He's considered a workhorse and a political bulldozer. He's also considered politically honest and constant in his views (unlike many Israeli politicians).
He's also among the only non-orthodox right wing element in Israeli politics.
As far as Esterina Tarterman goes - she's probably a loser, but appears to be a close ally to Lieberman inside his own party, and he's loyal.
As far as the Israeli arab minister - it is a joke. It is an unqualified call by Peretz, trying to 'score' politically by posing a decision before Olmert, which he can't overrule.
I'm all for pro-zionist / zionist-neutral Israeli arabs getting seats in politics.
There have been numbers of Israeli druze in key positions in the government, knesset and the IDF.
