And the market is pretty much limited to the mainlanders, unlike most markets that are open to anyone.

It's a correction that many people had expected.

    No big deal.

I agree. I've seen this type of thing unfold before. A lot of people come home from work on the day their stock market crashes, turn on the TV and learn of the crash. Their reaction is: "OMG" and they call their broker and tell him to sell, sell, sell! So expect another day or two of big drops, and then a bounce back. Probably a slow drift down for awhile after that.

        S&P 500 down 2.28%. NASDAQ down 2.85%. 2 hours to close.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

The correct answer in a mature market is to call your broker and say "buy, buy, buy" large-cap stocks

                Contrarians.

Which of our zillionaires once explained that he got that way by being accommodating? "When people wanted to sell, I'd buy. And when they wanted to buy, I'd sell."

I have been buying China and will continue to buy China.

I haven't been buying S&P 500, but would consider it assuming a healthy decrease in the price. I have some cash lying around waiting for just such an occurrence...

Wow, around a half hour ago, the US markets started falling off a cliff, then bounced. Hard. Look at this chart...

I'll wait a few days while the scardy cats bail, then I'll probably put a couple of grand in.
