Why are they so .. one dimensional? Usually, bunch of paintings. Sure, they can be very awesome in their own respective field. I'm not denying it.
However, the other direction seems to be 'look I'm a bit insane so I must be a great artist', splash some blood and urine on the walls, hang some smelly and rotting pig bodies from the roof with chains and be 'eccentric'. Of course, this view is very biased and does not necessarily represent the reality of the shows.
However, what I'd like to see is mixed art, daring stuff with real implications. Like for example, I'd like to stuff these big flat screen TVs inside the walls, and have looping videos of real hacking happening, into known institutions, people breaking into all kinds of systems, just dark rooms and mostly just corridors, so you're walking from another hack to a new one, while music is playing all around from drum and bass to all kinds of 'new music'. Then, there's some weird techno chicks with bold heads, kind of androgyn types of people, pale and ****, handing you all kinds of mind stimulants. Acid, mdma, and what your preferred weapons would be.
Every piece would include information that is supposedly dangerous: how to protect your identity, how to find out information that is protected, how to attack root servers, industrial as well as international targets and a point system, so as the attacks progress, people can become a part of the gallery, so it's like a scavenger hunt and much glory for the winner.
Gas masks, big beat, low fi, and everyone who comes and and has their bluetooth open will have automatically some new numbers in their list, 'borrowed' numbers of celebrities and stuff. Another present for guests would be a DVD filled with nice tools for 'citizen activism' to protect your individual rights .
We'd show how to use voice changers and infiltrate into phone networks fairly safely and go to loopback areas and put surveillance on other people and tap into their phones without people knowing about it, build-it-yourself lasers that capture sound (when you point it to a window), all kinds of interesting stuff. Scanning for active surveillance around the city and show the blocks with most surveillance in a huge screen in the main room.
A shooting range, you can shoot stuff, controlled demolition while aggressive music is playing, tear gas into your face, **** it, it's pretty sadistic if you want to come and see the show, and it is guaranteed to run for two days max before it is shut down, but what the hell.. it's not like it's as boring as a bowl of fruit painted by a feminist with a grudge against men.
