The Daily Mail? The chance occasions I find it lying around I don't find a single interesting story in it. Bit like the Guaridan really. Actually the only reason I buy newspapers now is the Su Doku.

Regardless of the quality of an individual story, smearing a paper because of the stance of its long-dead owners in the 30's is not really fair play.

I treat the stories in The Mail with the same kind of 'health warning' as I do stories from Al Grauniad. That isn't to say they're automatically false, but I'm cautious.

Like I said, it's really not difficult to find any decade that the Mail was repulsively wrong in. It's basically a newspaper for anyone who hates people with a bank balance smaller than their own, but wuvs wickle donkeys and poorly bears. It takes a special kind of newspaper to churn out sneering damnations on single mothers next to huge appeals to help some bear in eastern Europe, and the Mail is that special kind of paper.

Meanwhile I notice that this story still does not appear in any other source news outside of the Mail group (My comments about the Express picking it up appear to have been an error) with the possible exception of a publication called "Life Style Extra", which (to be brutally honest) I'd never heard of before.

So is it actually a story that the non-rabid media will eventually decide is reliable enough to cover? We'll have to wait and see.
