All the specific regions mentioned on the first page were bureucratic centers filled with high-paying state- or federal-funded jobs. When you read reports like this, you start to realize why EU has two federal HQ's, one in France and one in Benelux.

Sadly, one in four regions is also below 75% of EU average.

Thats a shame but they aren't having my money
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

And that, my friends, is the reason why Europe will not be among the big players in the next 50 years.

Actually, his money does go to the poorer regions.

The EU gives about 45 billion € this year to poorer regions to help with development. That's something like 0.4% of the EU's Gross National Income. Or 100€ per European capita.

Besides, many western industries go East, thus bringing plenty of capital to the new members. Whenever TheStinger buys something made in Poland, he sends money there.

Finally, the Poles living in Britain make money, which will in part go back to Poland. Especially when the Poles will go back to buy their house and get a wife there. Whenever TheStinger buys something that involves the work of a Pole living in London, he sends money east.

The point is that a lack of unity in action prevents the EU from functioning as an effectual political entity on the world stage.

It is kind of like the US under the Articles of Confederation. The USA is far far more powerful than merely 50 individual states, and if US states displayed the same lack of unity as European states do....

So people living in inner London are the richest in Europe?

Anyway, none of you bores got my attempt at delicate irony.

So my working in Central London is reflected in the Inner London figure, even though I live in an area that is actually below the EU average. Scandalous!
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

Well of course we did, but its obvious to everyone that we need to get everyone up to 125% of the EU average.

yeah I get it, it's just not funny at all. It might be if you would've notified the title as a news headline in some famous newspaper or something.
