The EU gives about 45 billion € this year to poorer regions to help with development. That's something like 0.4% of the EU's Gross National Income. Or 100€ per European capita.
Besides, many western industries go East, thus bringing plenty of capital to the new members. Whenever TheStinger buys something made in Poland, he sends money there.
Finally, the Poles living in Britain make money, which will in part go back to Poland. Especially when the Poles will go back to buy their house and get a wife there.
