  • To refrigerate, or not to refrigerate

    Do you guys refrigerate
    • Gin (London dry)
    • Whisky (Canadian whisky)
    • Rum (spiced rum)

I've been keeping these all room temperature but a friend acted like I was crazy to do so?

I've NEVER EVER see someone, or even a bar(edit: maybe not), refrigerate their gin, whiskey or rum!

    So, No!

I do not refrigerate any of those liquors.

I put vodka in the freezer, however.

If I was using the gin to make martinis then I would probably put it in the freezer too, but for gin&tonics it's fine room temp (with ice in glass)

I keep my gin in the freezer, but I don't think refrigeration is critical for any of these (as opposed to vodka). Especially not the rum. And whisky is best at room temperature.

Why would you want to keep these alcohol in the refrigerator?

To keep the taste, or to be ready if you want a cold martini or a cold drink?

I didn't want to keep these in the refrigerator.

I use the gin mostly for Gin and Tonic, the whisky straight, and the rum for Rum n' Coke. Never had a problem with the temperature.

Martinis are really the only drinks which require very cold liquor.

I keep my vodka in the freezer simply on the off chance I'm going to use it to make martinis. Mostly I make vodka tonics, vodka crans and bloody marys with it, though.

I hate gin martinis so I don't keep it in the freezer at all.

For these uses there is no reason to refrigerate.

Whisky should be kept and served at room temperature. It is only those who don't like Whisky who do otherwise.

The others can all be kept at room temperature also.
