Yeah, I remember seeing that Starship Troopers II existed...if the first one was that bad, I sure as hell was going to stay clear of the sequel...

And don't blame me for watching AVP...Dauphin dragged me along to see it. I was just being sociable...to be fair I have seen worse though: Evolution (the film which has the three-eyed smiley for its logo if anyone was wondering).

The first one is on par with Godfather II compared to the sequel.
Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendant, and to embrace them is to acheive enlightenment.

I think Evolution was intended to be bad, like a Troma movie...

My favourite hilariously bad movie is "Beast of Yucca Flats". Tor Johnson (Plan 9 from Outer Space) plays a russian scientist who is chased by the FBI or somesuch. He flees into a nuclear testing site and gets caught in a blast. This turns him into some kind of atomic monster and he spends the rest of the movie doing monster stuff with his clothes in tatters (atomic explosions are hard on clothes ) He kills a girl and carries her to a cave while two dedicated state troopers hunt him down.

The badness in this film isn't the lack of a script or that the story doesn't make sense at all. It's that due to financial restraints the director opted to do no live sounds or dialouge. All the sound and dialouge is dubbed in afterwards in a studio in a very flat and unconvincing manner. And to "hide" the fact that the actors aren't really talking in the movie all the close ups are from the neck down and other scenes show the actors hiding behind objects and turning their back to the camera. And to top it off the director is narrating the whole ****ing story, telling us exactly what it is we're seeing on the screen. This doesn't make it any more understandable though...

Watching this movie is a surreal experience!

Hercules in New York (Schwarzenegger's first movie) is also a "great" bad movie. Arnold's lines are spoken by someone else, and since everybody knows Arnold's real voice you can't help but laugh when you hear 'him' speak
This space is empty... or is it?

I have that on DVD with both the dubbed and the original voice. Apparently the movie studio feared people wouldn't understand his accent. But it's not that bad, not even back then (1970)...

You of course realized that it was a parody?

I actually thought it was a pretty good parody.
