I guess that could matter to some

Ditto-- I posted mainly in the OT AFTER they stopped counting

I actually didn't know my count until today-- This one will be 7581 for me but all that represents for me is a lot of wasted time.

I do remember when I wnet to emporer and thinking that was ok-- THe only use I had for the titles for a while was I didn't start any PBEMS with settlers for a while. I wanted people to be around for a while to make it less likely they would disappear

    • At least (as far as I know) this place doesn't have a thread that backslaps people who get to x,000 posts.

A motor sports forum that, until recently, I used to post at had such a thread. In it, one poster who had got to a high number of posts in a short space of time by spamming a silly word-association game spam-thread was getting *** all over by some other posters and I waded in. "Why the status for this spammer?" I asked, and I got crucified.

I won't be posting there again.

Why should they? Even the titles are a bit lame as postcount does not distinguish by content. I like to pick on Provost a bit because I remember the "coffeeshop' threads where his "I'll have a cherryade" was so often seen. It would be funny if thetre was some computer tool that could calculate/search how many times he posted that .

Other forums do seem to have some weird conventions. I post occasioanlly at a weather/climate forum. What would be polite for Poly is taken as abuse and uncalled for over there.

Yeah, different cyber-villes have different ground-rules.

Worst of all at the place I mentioned, there was a psycho administrator that would flame and ban people just for disagreeing with him. It was good forum in many respects, though anyone that posted anything against the admin's favourite driver (Schumacher) would get banned.

Mind you, the CFC moderation always struck me as being heavy-handed. **WARNING - offensive percieved attitude and mind-frame removed *** EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE.

                            • Indeed, rah. I don't think +1's have changed all that much, rather than more lax moderation. I've been clamoring for laxity in moderation for a while, so I'm happy with the change. Spam and serious discussions CAN co-exist. And spam does tend to bring a community together, IMO. People are having fun and getting a laugh out of what other posters do.

                              Great change .

Oh, and I blame Markos for initially making this place all stuffy .
