Reading on, it seems that they ignore the fact that the number they quoted was "happy about the direction the country is heading" and the president, but later they always ask why people are unhappy, period.
Basically they are arguing made up things.

Basically, according to this "article?" no matter what the President does, you're suppose to be happy about it because Somalia exists.

Same with the way the country is going.

I think the letter was weird reasoning, and really debatable, BUT on the issue of spoiled brats, I agree. I think the majority of the west is spoiled compared to our 3rd world counterparts. We don't have to struggle for survival. Most of our problems are social, as in not enough sex, or problems of what to do on our free time, is it entertaining enough, am I bored, if so, my life sucks.

Well, it's not like I even have to worry about basic survival. I have a roof over my head, guaranteed, food on the table, also guaranteed. I can even guarantee myself a good internet connection and a cell phone, thse are guaranteed basic tools, not luxury. I have clean water, as much as I want to spend. I can just leave the shower running for a week if I want to. So that's just the basic level that we already take for granted. In that sense, yeah, we're spoiled.

Of course we're spoiled.
But even people who are not spoiled compared to us, are spoiled considered to someone else.
There's hardly a situation for a human being that can't be worse.

Anybody arguing that is dumb, and that's why the whole article is attacking a straw man, since this has nothing to do with the President, for one thing.

There is never any harm in wanting to improve on the situation you are in. The US may have a decent standard of living but there are many areas of the world where you have truly made it far worse than it was before...and there are parts of your own society that have become more and more alienated.
