If you go back to traditional what ever, there are more girls than boys. So you either have to legalize polygamy right then, or lesbianism.

If you legalize gay marriage, well, there's no guarantee you'd need to legalize polygamy, because the amount of guys getting it on and girls getting it on is not set or known. So, it might actually end up with perfect number of heteros.

It's efficient and provably optimal for either the hospitals or the students (depending on who is the "girl" or "boy" in the algorithm).

Of course it's 'optimal', it's just not realistic. Of course depends what the modifications are.

But usually, all ideas that are similar to this (calculating human factors with simplistic algorithms) have been bad ideas.

It depends what the attributes taken into account are, but the human factor is still left out in many aspects, even if you add most of the qualifications and requirements.

This just so much reminds me of .. well, say there aren't enough attributes taken into account, so it's just a mismatch most of the times. When it gets accurate enough, it reminds me of.. kind of Taylorism, and I wouldn't consider that positive either.
