No you've got it all wrong.....

True, though the majority of bilingual Americans are from immigrant backgrounds. The native born bilingual rate is pretty low once you discount children of immigrants who are taught another language because it is their parents' natie language. Still, all told there is a fairly high bilingual rate in the US.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

I spent less time filling my brain with "foreign" and more time filling it with brilliance. Therefore the opening post is thus null and void.

at the premise of the OP.

              I'm trilingual. Do I win?

              EDIT: Damn you, LordShiva!

But can you read and write all four languages? Or is it that you can only speak them? If you could, it'd be rather impressive, because each has a different script.

Re: American posters are stupider, throw rocks at them.

A good way to offend people is to say this:

American posters are stupider, throw rocks at them.
                and then say this:

                Simple really.

People posting from a country where English isn't the first language demonstrate ability to reason and debate in a second language. Which increases the probability of an higher intelligence and better education.

Hereby I declare your average American/English/Canadian poster stupider than the euros, on a statistical basis.
Not only do you slag off the English-speaking world, you also lump in everyone as 'American' in your opening post. Now this I find highly offensive, sod the other point you are making

Do you want to come here or shall I go there to administer the *****slap?

I've been digging in whatever grammar I could find.

                    Well according to: http://www.learnenglish.org.uk/gramm...ratives01.html

Adjectives of two syllables are more complicated. To see which is the usual form you should see your dictionary. Most adjectives of two syllables form the comparative with "more":

                    *
                    Famous …more famous
                    *
                    Thankful … more thankful
                    *
                    Boring …more boring
                    *
                    Faithless … more faithless

However, some adjectives of two syllables form the comparative with "-er":

Those that end in "y", change the "y" to "i" and add "-er":

                    *
                    Happy … happier
                    *
                    Funny … funnier
                    *
                    Easy …easier

So looking up Google's dictionary for stupid turns out:

                    stu·pid (stū'pĭd, styū'-) pronunciation
                    adj., -er, -est.

And so does the Oxford American dictionary:

                    stupid, (-pider, -est)

It seems to me that if you can't find a quote to contradict me, Oerdin, we'll have to call it a own goal.

                        • If you turn on the TV in Switzerland and can only speakone language you can only watch very few channels. If you sit in a cafe in Zurich at each table a different language is being spoken.

If you grow up in such circumstances then you learn alot of languages. In the US most people speak english so we grow up only speaking english.

My father grew up in Zurich and spoke 5 languages. I grew up in New Jersey and speak almost 1...

So you know only one Indian script, the same as I do, but you know one non-Indian script more than me.

But just knowing Tamil and Assamese is enough to make you elite - you know one language more than the masses of India do. Most educated people in India know three languages - their own, Hindi, and English. Knowing four makes you elite. Knowing two makes you normal if you're Hindi-speaking. Knowing only one puts you below the average. Of course, going by this measure, the English speaking countries are at a disadvantage.
