Its not like we granted them statehood or anything. They are a backward nomadic people after all.

Who cares about dead Americans (except Mobius)? They all volonteered anyway. Dead Iraqis is what counts.

He starts a serious(?) thread and three pages later is still nowhere to be seen. Wiglaf should not be taken seriously.

Er no. That is why 'epic' was in quotation marks... We know it was a sideshow, it's just most of the chumps on your side of the pond think they were some kind of amazing victories against vast armies...

to be fair if it wasn't for the french there likely would not have been any war between the british empire and the US at that time. The strain was largely a result of policies in support of the war against napoleon.

I'm sure people in former indochina feels the same way, Algeria misses them too much also, it makes everyone cry.

Let's face it, France must go.

None of this changes the fact that I have never met a person who thought of these wars as anything approaching epic, nor anyone who thought America crushed its enemies, and I have lived in the United States all my life. Maybe I just associate with smarter people than you do...

3100 dead in Iraq so far
                            300 dead in Afganistan

                            So according to the article
                            only
1800 non combat deaths under Bush

As opposed to 4200 under Clinton?????

Everyday, our chance of winning diminishes. Not only that, even if we do somehow snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, what will we have won? Essentially, the "least worst" we can hope for is that Iraq will become a Shiite quasi-theocracy (which will oppress the Sunnis and Kurds).

This is a stupid war, which we were taken into by stupid men for stupid reasons.
Since apparently I need to make an appearance in this thread before it fills 2 pages, for some reason I can't quite understand, here I am to respond to Zkribbler's bull****.

The point is that there is media bias that focuses not on progress, but on 2 troops dying who probably would have been hit by a bus back at base camp in Florida anyway. The casualties are not wasted, they were inevitable anyway. Might as well spend them somwhere. Granted, we have also lost a lot of Iraqi civilians, but that NUMBER IS IN GREAT DISPUTE UNLIKE THE US CASUALITY NUMBER.

Also: we screwed up a country, fine, but we at least tried. It was awful before and a threat. What was lost...?
