I remember when some restaurant owner in India thought that it would be a good publicity stunt to open a Hitler-themed restaurant. The Jewish community in Mumbai (IIRC) reacted the same way. The owner realised his mistake and apologised, and changed the theme. They need to realise that people in India just don't care about Jews and Judaism enough to take the sentiments of the community into account - because they have only the vaguest idea what Jews are and what Judaism is, and because the Jews behave in a civilised way when offended - they lodge a formal protest, go to the media, and appeal to the person concerned. They do not, like some other communities, go on murderous rampages and burn public property and kill people.

That is in fact already what people tend to say.

Very plausible if sad in an entirely different way.

IIUC there are three jewish communities in India - the one in Kerala, which has been there for a very long time, and claims to have come at the time of the babylonian exile, a community largely in Mumbai that came during the Middle ages and a community in Calcutta that consists of Iraqi Jews (or Baghdadi, as they call themselves) who came during the Raj. There has been substantial migration to Israel among all communities.

One Jew became a prominent general in the India army.

In general AFAIK there has been less antisemitism in India than almost anywhere in the world.

Unfortunate clipart Id say - some one was searching on "drugged food" or something, and happened on antisemitic web site, and didnt quite realize what it was.

So AFAIK, antisemitism in India - very little
Antisemitism on the Net - quite a fair amount.

I don't really remember the last time when Hindus went on a rampage over some error born of ignorance. Could you please refresh my memory?

Shiv Sena seems to provide more than enough evidence to prove my point.

The Shiv Sena is, as far as I know, a Marathi chauvinist party. Could you, as I said, please cite a specific instance?

The Bombay riots seem to be a big one according to the Srikrishna Commission.

Were the bomb blasts that preceded and caused the riots errors born of ignorance?

So are actions born out of malice and hatred are a-OK in your book? Because I don't really understand the distinction you are trying to make.

No rioting is justifiable, unless in self-defence. However, there is a difference in people just retaliating against people they think bombed them, and people rioting over some man's mistake caused by ignorance.

My father was in Mumbai that day, and he was lucky he escaped with his life, so I have a very different view of the riots than you do. They were not justified, but there was a very solid reason they happened.

This would be a more appropriate example. Or this. This, meanwhile, is a slam dunk.
