It's not like it's an unknown phenomenon of a teacher basing grades on irrelevant and personal factors. You already seem to be indifferent or somewhat loathsome towards the students so it's not a long stretch of the imagination to have someone less professional take such feelings into a personal arena and using the best power tool available, grading, to exact some kind of universal revenge.

It's what we humans do best. So chill. No matter how clearly and/or brilliantly you explain things, some people -- even bright ones -- will overlook the obvious and ask stupid questions. It isn't a proper approach.

Not to say that you have to be all smiles and flowers, but you are very often tactless and border line rude. this is well seen in this forum as well.

I would generally diagnose it as you've said it yourself - you just don't care about other people, and you look down on most of them. That is a bad approach in life, and that is a bad approach for a person in a position of power (boss, professor or even a TA).

You should probably take a lesson from a long time poster and end all of your e-mails with "have a nice day...."
