  • OMg the geeks!! Help!! Someone please help them!!

    Its just pity full...

I have been playing WoW from 2 or 3 weeks now...and its an awesome game...But some people are just taking it to far.

    Marriages?! Parties?!? Garage sale?! WTF?!?

I was walking threw a town yesterday and I saw this bunch that was getting married! Seriously! All official and everything , will be all posted in the Guild they have...There was a best man and everything...And I started talking just to see what was happening...and it seems that they also have paries every weekend!

Seriously, they log on, unite in a city somewhere and type /dance...You have got to be kiding me...If you wanna have a party, there is such a thing as a phone, that you use to call people, and while talking to people, you can invite them to your house, YOUR REAL HOUSE, buy beer and have a bash!! LOG OFF!!

They also have leaders of the guild, which you have to listen to because he's level 60.....OOOOoooooo....Who cares? Wtf is that about. Acts all puffy because he spent 4 months non-stop behind a keyboard...I'll just find someone else to do my quests with. Some people get their confidence in the game only, but when they step out of their house, they get all acrophobic.

What is this world coming to? Theres even a site where it talks about the socio-economical life in WoW...Did you know that the average age of a WoW player is 28.3 years old? Can you guys believe that? My sister used to marry her Barbie dolls when she was 7 years old...

And on break.com, theres a video about a guys jerking off to its female character...

And all this time I thought the game was about bashing big monsters and get to level 60 or something...

Sounds to me like a good business

Reminds me of what I heard of Second Life. Seems to be that some people earn real money with it, so much that they quit their Real Life job and make a living by selling things in Second Life

When I finished with WoW I sold an account with a bunch of L60s for a few hundred bucks. Made back my subscription payments over the years.

The average WoW player is 28.3 years old? Really? I was under the impression that most players were under 20. If anything, 30 year olds usually don't have the time to play for 12 hours a day...

The gaming world's matured now... that average age is actually quite representative of the entire market.

Personally, I thought it would be more in low 20s. 30 year olds might not have the schedule to be playing in extended sessions, but then again, these people... must have... no life.

Well there are also a ton of casual gamers playing WoW. For instance, I only play like 2-3 hours every other day (or when I'm traveling for work, I don't play for a week). So I join guilds that are fairly low pressure and let me do my own thing.

Well, the average age is supposed to be different for different games. I think that the average Civ4 player is older than the average Counter-Strike player, and by a good margin. I certainly expecte WoW to be on the younger end of the spectrum.

Then again, where is that age data from and how reliable is it? You're not asked your age when buying a game. Even for M-rated games, assuming that it's actually enforced ( ), you'd only be asked to provide if you're over 16/18.

You know, someone gave me the same answer this morning at work.

I have been on the net for quite a long time now, around 10 years. And I knew there were some freaks out there, but geez, this is borderline insane in my book.

I remember 10 years or so ago, internet was everywhere in the news with reports that said some people were getting addicted to the internet, losing their jobs and partner over it. Of course, Civ addiction can get you in trouble with your partner , exagerating may even get you single. But such things like in WoW are....subject to an excess of imagination for some people.

A Saturday night, you go out, buy beer, come home, log on to WoW, go to Taren Mill and have your self a party...Why not just use MSN? Why get your character married when its not even in the game? its just something you make up in a guild? Dont you think these people lack something of high importance in terms of feeling and social adaptability?

What will happen in 20 years when games are a fully 3D environment and all you wear to play is a suit? Why play Sims when you can live a life of your own?

They say video games create events like Columbine...I beg to differ. The kind of people that have ''parties'' and get married in WoW create events like Columbine.
