I like how you spin this though. I say Ford's quality is pretty good and back it up with reports and then you attempt to say I'm a Ford lover. Get a grip.

It's Asher. He probably thinks everyone is passionately in love with one or more corporations.

Yes, everyone agrees with you. Except it appears most people think differently, and why would that be?

Maybe the fact that Fords are pieces of **** and everyone knows it but you.

It will be again. Unfortunately they are being killed by union costs and their gold plated retirement plan. There just isn't a way to get out from under that obligation short of bankruptcy or somehow convincing the union membership to accept lower pensions and pay.

I'd threaten them all with bankruptcy and offer them a deal where they'd get slightly more then what the government pension insurance program offers. If they don't accept the offer then declare bankruptcy, reorganize the company, and ditch all the retirees onto the Federal program. BTW GM can't be that far behind.

Both GM and Ford have long suffered from worthless management. Their quality is good but they never invested nearly enough into the future. When trucks were hot they pilled everything into trucks and SUVs while ignoring their car line ups. Now gas prices are high and people want cars not SUVs. Oppies, they don't have any cars for sale that are any good because they spent the money on releasing yet another SUV instead. That's just bad management.

The unions also share the blame though. Can you believe that their paying those guys around $85k per year to do blue collar work? Screw that they should be making around $35k or $40k tops. Plus the union guys get that $85k even if that factory gets closed down or temperarially closed. They don't even have to work to get the money. That sort of stuff needs to go.

Yeah. So any ways I've said my peace about this thread and I will leave Asher to troll someone else.

I don't know if Ford will be successful again. At a minimum, the market is telling us that the company may not be profitable again without restructuring through bankruptcy.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

You know... if Ford lasts long enough for the Congress to pass an emisions cap and trade program, they'll be a big winner.

It's funny, though, that Ford's #1 priority was quality or reliability or something, until they realised that they're probably better off saying "Innovation is Our Mission."

Prediction: either Ford or GM will eventually be taken over by Chinese investors.

Ford is crap and you know it, Oerdin.

JD Power & Associate's quality studies are crap, and you know that too.

The simple fact is Ford is a crap brand with crap quality and crap business decision-making ability. Crap crap crap.

That will never happen. You think people got upset with Dubai? How do you think they'd react to China buying a critical wartime industry?

Dubai = Arabs = our enemies

China = our creditors and next world power

People will piss and moan, but that's it.

Besides, the Dubai thing was about a government-sanctioned port deal; this woudl be a private transaction (which is not to say that the govt wouldn't try to stick it's nose in, but it wouldn't have much luck).
