What a load of crap. Drogue has already explained why on the first point but on the second - to say that Scottish MPs have little impact is a joke because the governing party is entirely dependent on Scottish votes.
You've missed a couple of threads, but I'll fill you in. I've been having fun deliberately disagreeing with Drogue on a few topics.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

As far as N Ireland goes Labour (and the tories) have decided to get rid of it if they can - that's the whole point of British government involvement in the peace process. The Irish government have essentially agreed to take it provided it won't blow up in their faces with protestant terrorism. It's going to take time but the outcome is looking inevitable.
As for England/Scotland, Labour blew it. They offered regional government in England without any real control over health, education and transport - the things that really matter - and the voters decided, rightly, that they didn't want an expensive talking shop. Without that the issue of Scottish votes in the UK parliament isn't going to go away - nor is it going to get resolved any time soon.Never give an AI an even break.

Ok, so supposing the question were not of a separate Scotland, but rather of establishing an English parliament with similar powers like that of the Scottish parliament, so that everyone is still on an equal footing: What would the general attitude towards that be?
(And finally where would the English Parliament sit? Presumably London, I'm thinking.)

An English Parliament is a fair enough concept, it just means the inevitable breakup of the UK. It would far, far too big for any federal government to control it.

Should scrap all devolution full stop and rule the entire UK from westminister.Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendant, and to embrace them is to acheive enlightenment.

SNP unveils 'Trident toll' plans
Trident submarine
The Trident submarine fleet is based at Faslane on the Clyde
A toll on the transportation of nuclear warheads in Scotland could raise up to £85m, according to the Nationalists.
The Scottish National Party's leaders say they will seek to impose a levy on Trident if the party leads the Scottish Executive after May's election.
But the plans were dismissed as a diversionary tactic by Labour.
Armed Forces Minister Adam Ingram questioned the legality of such a move and said taxpayers would end up footing the bill.
The SNP wants to impose a £1m toll on every nuclear weapon which is brought into Scotland.
SNP leader Alex Salmond said the "Trident toll" would use devolved powers over local taxation.
'Think again'
The scheme would aim to raise £85m a year, which he said was Scotland's share of the cost of Britain's nuclear weapons.
"I believe that most Scots would rather see the government spend money making Scotland a safer, healthier and fairer country than wasting it on nuclear weapons," he said.
"This Trident toll will be a powerful new deterrent, and we hope will make the UK Government think again about bringing a new generation of nuclear bombs to Scotland's shores."
What they are effectively now saying is that it is going to be a cash crop
Adam Ingram
Armed Forces Minister
The Trident submarine fleet is based at the Faslane Naval Base on the Clyde.
However, Mr Ingram told the BBC's Politics Show that there were questions over the legality of the SNP's proposals.
"The other aspect is that I thought the SNP policy was one of total opposition to Trident, and to the nuclear civil programme as well," he said.
"What they are effectively now saying is that it is going to be a cash crop.
"Is it a principle or is it a way of making money? They have got to make their minds up."
He added that the cost would be borne by taxpayers as the money would come out of defence expenditure. [/q]

I'm just trying to figure out how Scotland has the right to tax the UK government...I suppose we could just say to them that if they tax the warheads we'll stop double that amount from reaching them via subsidies. They can't bargain from a position of strength because they don't have one.
And if they want to leave, no complaints from me...
Though it does bring up an interesting point about what happens to the armed forces if Scotland bugegred off to do it's own thing. You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

So let me get this straight...Scotland is recieving a large amount in subsidies from the rest of the United Kingdom and is given a considerable amount of autonomy....
What are they complaining about, exactly?
