  • Also, I find it pretty funny that you're lecturing me on the technology of space launches when you then go on to state that the Russians first launched in "196X"

      • Oh, look at that. 1957. Soviet technology.

I'm sure the boys and girls at NASA would be incapable of launching from 1,000,000 different sites in 2007 with computers to help them.

        • Now, how many sites would be capable of launching, and hitting, a moving object that can manuevre?

Actually, it's also a vehicle to hold that propellant. And the people to launch it. And the facilities to launch it from. None of which the US necessarily has in quantities large enough to outlaunch ASATs from a dedicated enemy, since the ASATs are generally smaller, simpler in construction, simpler in infrastructure requirements, smaller in ground crew requirements, ...

Have you actually been a part of the ground crew for an orbital maneuver or launch? No? Because I have. And I have some clue when it comes to how much it costs to put something in a given orbit or trajectory, and how many highly trained people it takes working together.

Could the US build the infrastructure to launch much quicker (when necessary) than it currently has? Of course. But that infrastructure has to be built ahead of time. Not when the crisis emerges. It needs more facilities, people and a greater inventory of vehicles in order to do that.

                • I think I'll go out back and launch a LEO sat. I've got a computer and some experience. What else could I need?

                  • pfft.

In a war, the Yanks will launch as many sats as they want, and they'll do it from the Santa Monica Fwy if that is all they have to do it from, however unlikely that is.

You know some zoics. You know **** about what happens when the pedal hits the metal.

I'd wager it's a little easier for Yanks to do it now than Sovs 50 years ago. Would you disagree?

I imagine you would have it if what you were doing was linked to a war the Americans were engaged in.

                        Just a guess.

Your ******* is gaping wide from the bull**** you've been spreading around. All the money and hard work in the world doesn't create launch capacity from nothing in a week.

                          • Why?

They launch ICBMs from mobile platforms.

Why could a sat not be launched from any number of sites after very quick work by some engineers, say employed by an army that has a corps of them?

Do you actually have a clue what you are talking about? Or do you really think you are that special?

I'd like 12000 T-34s, and I'd like them in the next week or so. What could go wrong? The sovs built T-34s back in the 40s...
