Semi-barbarians. Unlike the Greek, the Macedonians didn't mix their wine with water.

The Greeks had enough hair on their chests already apparently.

If Greece was a man, he would have a really small penis.

I don't remember who it was, but years ago there was a greecian here at the OT that claimed that his people was (sort of) prepositioned to democracy due to their ancient history. Democracy is in their genes or something. Obviously so as they had a junta until the mid 1970s.

your counter-argument is almost as silly as the argument it's supposed to counter....

Odd personal fact of the day

When I was a kid in Brooklyn, I had a friend named Nick Venizelos. He once said that his grandfather (or great grandfather?) had been Prime Minister of Greece. I wasnt sure he was telling the truth, and if he was, figured it was some small time pol. It was only years later when I read more history I realized who Venizelos was.

Varwnos, with all my love to You personally, Byzantium, Greeks and all that jazz, Greece is acting silly. By making a big fuss about Macedonia's claims, Greece validates them. Fuss about Macedonia's name was silly, but that...

What do slavs have to do with Alexander the great?
since slavic invasion up till recent times, majority of territory of Macedonia, including the part is now in Greece. Slavic population mixed with previous one, so, sort of, FYROMians are perhaps to some degree genetical and geographical descendants of ancient Macedonians, but it is sort of far-stretched and, truely, they have nothing to do with their culture, not even a direct link

I did not mean to say that greeks living in Macedonia have anything near a direct link either (iirc the exact sentence is in my OP ) just noting that in the case of slav-macedonians there is not even a link of language.
I dislike nationalisms anyway, and know very well that many people in Greece get pretty sentimental very fast about such issues, and this never helps. For example there should have been an agreement about the name years ago, as slavic madeconia or something like that

                            polish nationalism is good

Slavic Macedonia is actually a splendid compromise, but I doubt it would work
