We would equal information age to freedom. TO some extent, I must agree. In it's purest form, it would be the greatest tool, and it still funtions to some degree.
But why are we eager to give up our rights, we can't wait to just have them taken away in the name of what ever, security, greater good and whatnot.
The change is quite outstanding. People used to die for these things, they used to fight wars for these things. Now, we are imploding within. So why is this change happening, why are we giving away our rights? Most of all, protection. Why? Like I said, people have died in masses, why do we need protection like this? We need to be protected of being free?
It's the information age. Information travels quickly, we are bombarded by news, 24/7, accidents, attacks, angry people, all kidns of threats. Before information age, we didn't hear about these things so often, but now they have invaded our own homes and living rooms. So, in a way, we are more afraid than ever, even though we are more safe than ever. It makes no sense.
Furthermore, are we protecting our freedom, or are we protecting something else? I thought it was the freedoms, that were worth protecting and fighting for. Unless there's an all out war, in all continents, a real world war, I don't see why any of our rights should be limited. I'm not afraid. Just because someone else is, doesn't mean MY rights should be limited. Let them be afraid and believe all the hype. Watch more TV. Explosion, shooting, killings.
Exactly how does taking away some rights and adding surveillance help? It doesn't. It just gives an illusion of safety. A high price for freedom. Some say it's worth the illusion even, but those people are the ones who are sheep and should never represent free countries anyway.
