Those are good ones here in L.A.

Of lesser stature is Loyola Marymount.

A few years ago, I attended a student film festival at a
"Columbia something" film school across from Paramount Studios. I was very impressed. However, the only Columbia something school I can now find on the internet is in Tarzana out in the Valley. Either it moved or it's a different school. I'll see if I can't find some time to look deeper into it.

I went to U.C.L.A., which has a reknowned film school, but I wasn't impressed by their films. Way to frou-frou.

True, I saw the UCLA school as well, ranked pretty high. Anyway, I'm going to make this thing happen. I'll do everything in my power to make this reality. It's my job, I'm a problem solver by nature, except very unorthodox one. You say insane, I say ****ing brilliant! I'm an animal. And this will be reality soon. I have PASSION for this.

You don't need to go to film school to make movies. You need to get a break in the industry. There are several ways to do it. Make some independent films and hope they catch the attention of someone. Get an intership or some job in the field where you have the opportunity to network. Just submit your stuff and hope someone looks at it. The main thing is to be open for any opportunity.

You should note this, it's hard to be about art if you want to produce major motion pictures in the US.

Not teh discussion I'm going for. Thanks, you're right though. My friend wants to do the school thing. And he needs to get out of here. He can apply for all the internships he wants, but it ain't going to happen in here. He can make as many indie movies as possible, but it's nto happening in here.

So he needs to get his ass in there. School is one place, when you don't know anyone or have a job.. where you can kind of have a softer landing and have something to do for sure, while trying ot get the break.
