  • Who's giving up smoking this evening?

Anyone taking the plunge? Having gone smoke-free in 2006, I can reassure people that it's actually a lot easier than I thiught it would be.

Not me of course! I need smoking for my social adventures (say what you want but asking for a cigarette/lighter is the BEST icebreaker in world)
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

And I agree: it was a lot easier than I thought!

I was aiming for it for New Year 2000. But in fact, I gave up a tenday before. I smoked my last cigarette December 21, 1999. I left my last package with 5 cigarettes in it in my drawer. There they were for 2 years, untouched, until my wife threw them away. I never smoked again. And true, it was easy.

You can still do that. Just carry sparklers or indoor fireworks around with you. I guarantee they'll make more impact than a Camel Light.

You insisted you were not an addict on here in years past, yet you thought it would be difficult to quit?

I'm giving up my 3 cigar a day habit.

Only going to recind on poker night once a month and various golf outings.
We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

After a bottle of italian red, freixenet (yeah, cheap, but no reason to spend on something you can't make the difference on) an a couple of glasses of Caol ila (that you can taste even after much drinking ), I certainly don't want to stop smoking.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
