I tell you something though, I will be glad when smoking is stopped from pubs in July as the **** things kill my throat and chest. However, as Laz once stated, what awful smells are going to replace those of cigarette smoke?
I was in the bar last night after new years. Kind of weird without smoke. But I found out that it's the alcohol that makes my throat hurt in the morning, not the smoke. . I guess I can't handle my alcohol.

Anyone taking the plunge? Having gone smoke-free in 2006, I can reassure people that it's actually a lot easier than I thiught it would be.
just think of how many boinkings you are a sacrificing by cutting your life short. Sure it's old people sex which probably isn't that great. But sex is still sex.

I'm in the process of trying to quit again. We'll see how it goes this time (grrrr). Of course, it doesn't help that the folks at Natural American Spirit sent me a $10 gift certificate/coupon for cigarettes. The coupon is sitting in my jacket pocket right now tempting me and mocking me. I feel like Jason listening to the Sirens, only I don't have the benefit of being strapped to the mast.
Like Laz, I quit last year. I had been steadily cutting down until I was down to 1/2 a pack (10 cigs) per week. Given that, I too didn't have any *physical* addiction left. I did, however, have a psychological addiction.
I've broken that now. I had a total of 3 lapses in 2006:
1) A concert at which I was under the influence of something else ands stupidly had 2 cigs
2) A good friend's bachelor party
3) A good friend's "last hurrah" weekend before his daughter was born and he too had to quit.
The first one was dumb and I regret. The other two, bah. Isolated events that aren't going to happen again.
What I was most worried about turned out to be overblown: the alcohol factor. I had a strong association between boozerini and smoking. I have now broken that, and it wasn't actually that hard.

Zkribbler, that's the corniest +7 I've seen since ... since ... since the last thread I saw with Dr Spike posting in it.

I smoked one cigarette after quit… Six months after that, I think. But, thanks God, I just detested the sensation… I never touched (and never will) this crap again!

Bah! I care nothing for numbers. But for personal reasons, I am very opposed to smoking. I just want to give encouragement to anyone who is giving up smoking, or who has in the past.
If any mod or administrator wants to knock 8 off my stats, go ahead.
