Okay, so I am being a bit less-than-serious there.
I'm so wound up right now I was about to rip into you for that. Thank God I have chocolates nearby to distract me long enough to actually read entire posts...

          "Sad" about the cost?
          quite

This should have cost one ****ing sniper bullet and maybe a pack of smokes and a beer for the sniper, not tens of thousands (possibly over 100K) of Iraqi lives and thousands of coalition (mostly US personnel) deaths and casualties.
It took thousands at the end of the first gulf war when Bush Sr told Iraqis to rebel and then turned his back on them, nobody got Saddam then.

Actually that would be nice. I hope so.

I am sorry but I dont think death is too light a punishment, I think it fits the crimes that Saddam commited. Also why do you want to sink to the level of Saddam by torturing him the rest of his life? Why do you even need to do that? Also you under estimate the things some people will do or allow people to do to them just to stay alive. If you where really really faced with death or years of torture what would you really pick? I know a lot of you would say death, but I think when it really came down to it, most people would pick the tourture. Life is something that would should charish, and people like Saddam dont deserve it.

Like his son after him, Bush Sr. had no legal option to continue to Baghdad, and God only knows the real reasons why he authorized the abandonment of the rebellion.

Bingo. Where there's life, there's hope. Leave it to the Vengeance that waits.

I am sorry but that is sick, and I am glad justice was served in this rare case, but taking enjoyment in his death is wrong.

Humans are, by their very nature, disgusting beings.

We wouldn't be sinking very far at all, not with our track record, anyway.

Why do you even need to do that? Also you under estimate the things some people will do or allow people to do to them just to stay alive. If you where really really faced with death or years of torture what would you really pick?
You're assuming that there would be a time limit on the sentence of torture.

"Indefinite" has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

Life is something that would should charish
Yes. That's why I'm against the death penalty. Life is something to be cherished.

, and people like Saddam dont deserve it.
We could argue the religious angle, where there's the whole part where we are not gods, and therefore not fit to judge...
But really? There are billions of people who don't deserve life, and billions who do deserve it but don't have it.

His life, whether he deserves it or not... well, it's not something I feel comfortable in removing from him, since I cannot replace it in someone else who's already deceased.

However, I have no problem with reducing his so-called life to the most meager, horrible thing imaginable. After all, life is what you make of it, right? And if we make his less than joyous, well, I suppose he'll just have to live it in place of all those Kurds in the same fashion he granted them.

Eye for an eye. So to speak.
