I've last used a Floppy to move some .txt files from my computer at work to home. It was some code I was dabling on in notepad and didn't want to lose. The old work computer didn't have a USB port I could put my flash drive (on the keychain) into.
Oh and the crappy floopy was later unreadable
Companions the creator seeks, not corpses, not herds and believers. Fellow creators, the creator seeks - those who write new values on new tablets. Companions the creator seeks, and fellow harvesters; for everything about him is ripe for the harvest. - Thus spoke Zarathustra, Fredrick Nietzsche

When's the last time you people used *real* floppies, those 5½ inchers or so?
Me, only yesterday. On my C=64.
I just thought, finnish has words for floppy, a 5½", and another word for the 3-something-inch ones, literal translation being "rusk", or biscuit... Just something a bit more rigid than "floppy"...
The last time I used them was probably about a year ago, although I wasn't really using them; just going through a box of disks we had, to see what was on them. Of course, half of them wouldn't even read on my brothers PC and needed to be reformatted.
Floppy disks are completely useless, in the age of CDs, USB drives, email attachments >1MB, web storage, etc.
My last compute rthat had one was the laptop I bought in 98. It was attached by a serial cable.
I have ended up sticking one on my desktops though (from older machines) as the Windows CD has always missed at least one driver...

Let's see, the last time was when I installed XP to get the SATA drivers.
Took me two hours to find it and all, couldn't remember where I put it.
Took me another hour to find a floppy that still worked too.

Yup, done that too. In fact, quite often my cdrom isn't even attached (hate it spinning up), hardly ever use it anyway (I consider it easier to bye HD's instead of burning everything, be it CD or even DVD (which I don't have)).

Last week. A guy equipped with ancient tech gave me a document on a floppy . But for the last 2-3 years, I maybe get floppies from someone else like twice a year. It's almost 3 years now since I wrote a file to a floppy myself to transfer it.
And even 3 years ago I thought that floppies should've died by then. The only problem is that you can't throw other stuff away. USB drivers are great and I use one constantly. But, you can't put some files on a USB drive, give it to someone and not worry about it. You'll need the drive back, they're sufficiently expensive. Floppies are so cheap you can just be without them.
Now that I think of it, I threw out most of my floppies a couple of years ago. I left one pack of 10, though, just for the sake of historic memory. A piece of ancient tech to show my children.
