  • Bulgarian Polymeet in 2007

After the Berlin polymeet in August this year I got the idea to organize/host a polymeet here in Bulgaria. The purpose of this thread is to find out if there are any people who are interested and to agree on a general location and time.

The most likely place for the meet will be Sofia because of the transport opportunities. There are cheap flights through http://www.wizzair.com/ (If you book in advance a roundtrip from London will cost you less than 150 EUR). It should also not be expensive to reach Sofia from Greece or Croatia for example

I guess that for about 40 Euro a night you can find a hotel room in Sofia. Unfortunately I can not offer accomodation in Sofia but if anybody likes to visit Stara Zagora (located on 2-3 hour drive from Sofia) I can easily accomodate 3-4 people.

Food is good and alghough you won't find as big variety of beers in Sofia as in Berlin you are going to greatly appreciate the fact that it is dirt cheap by European standards.

The best time to visit Bulgaria imo is May, June and late August, September. July is usualy too hot.

So let me know if anybody is interested and what time do you think will be the best for you.

    What is a Bulgaria?
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Sounds good. Early May would probably be the best time for me.

Incidentally I am due to be in Budapest (it's almost bulgary innit?) on the 3rd/4th of February. I won't have any spare time, but I'm looking forward to freezing my arse off in the colds of central Europe.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

            I apply for Stara Zagora!

Do we have more then one Bulgarian poster? Well, maybe some of the other Balkinites or Turks might show up.

There is one guy that hasn't posted for over a year and one other guy who is fairly active and participates in a demogame or something. I think he regulary plays cIV multiplayer and some of the OTers who play multiplayer probably know him. His handle is Toni.

Vetty might easily join us as well as Markos. Solun might even be closer to Sofia than Stara Zagora.

Ahem, it's Vetlegion or Vet, Vetty is uncool

Yeah, I'm interested. I don't know yet when I will be able to come. I've changed my job recently so it's not trivial to get free days with the new employer. The best would be if 1st May or some other holiday falls at tuesday or thursday. In that case I could take monday or friday off and make it a longer stay to enjoy myself a bit. It is certainly possible to come friday and come back sunday but I'd like to stay more. I'll check out the calendar and let you know soon.

It seems 1st May indeed is tuesday
Not bad. BTW., if the meeting is a weekend arrangement (between friday and sunday) then I guess I could come any weekend. Also, this year I plan to go to Vladivostok Russia with the transsiberian railroad, in July or August. Not sure about that yet, so I could go via Bulgaria and drop by if the meeting is in those two months. Not sure about anything yet. I'm not used to planning for more than a couple of turns months in advance

This evil map doesn't show Armenia and Georgia (and Cyprus) as part of Europe

Bulgaria is a country of great traditions, greater than any other balkanic nation but Greeks and Turks. Serbs do seem to have nicer sacral architecture, though.

There are some nice places to visit, like Tarnovo and Nesebr / Messembria. I am sure everything is cheap there, and if You like donkeys, You will love this country
