Poland has a mid-level GDP per capita (~13000$ IIRC), which is respectable compared to the developing world, but which places it far behind Western Europe, NA and Japan (all of which are ~30000$)

I assumed he was speaking of total national wealth - Poland's GDP beats Sweden's about 5:3.

I doubt Sweden has ever had a "larger" economy than Poland.

Maybe immediately after the breakup of the Soviet Union.

I was saying we're comparably richer now than in the 1600s - back then the Swedish economy amounted to a lesser fraction of the Polish compared to today. Back then both were mostly agricultural economies, and Poland simply had a lot more farmers.

Oh, it's a simple mistake. I've ment opposite to what I have written, of course.

              I agree with you.

It wasn't only about quantity of farms. Poland was in its golden and silver age back then, while Sweden had nothing but its steel to rob other nations with.

Steel sounds much moe effective to rob other nations with than silver or gold.

I mean, imagine a sword made of silver or gold against a sword made of steel. I mean, O.K., it looks great, but it probably won´t last a long time against steel sword in battle until it bends, breaks or becomes dull
