The reason digital downloads are not attractive to me is the lackluster offer for non anglo-saxon music and independent labels. CD is still the material of choice for getting and sharing music amongst my friends.
That's not the kind of model I'm talking about. I'm talking about "pay a regular fee" and get what you want, and retain the rights to use the music in any non commercial way you want.
I've been a subscriber for several months. It's a really good service IMO. My plan's 40 songs for $10, and the music selection's quite decent (particularly if you prefer more independent labels).

Right, no DRM. You pay for a certain number of songs per month (I have the minimal plan). And you can redownload songs you've already bought.
