I hate christmas shopping

But I refuse to give cash (I will be giving some gift cards, however). Cash is too impersonal.

I just don't get it. I give the same amount of presents as I recieve. So there is no net monetary gain or loss. What's the point? For retailers to get rich? The gifts I recieve I could just buy myself if I wanted.

And I'm too depressed this year to shop. Decemeber is the most depressing month. Damn long nights. I still have yet to put up my decorations.

Yeah. Sucks pretty bad. I long for the Christmases when I was looking forward to the newest lego set, the newest video game, the newest whatever. But those days are long past. Now I just hope for clothes that fit.

The malls depress me this time of year, so I just do all of my christmas shopping on amazon.com.

Though I friggin hate all of the jewelry ads on the radio. "Show her that you really love her by getting her a shiny rock."

I Love my Lord, celebrate his birthday but as far as the whole commercialism deal,

Me and my sweetheart have been married 21 + years and we buy what we want during the year and I am blessed that she isnt sold out to "BUY ME worth of merchandise to show your love."

We get some gifts for the grandchildren but otherwise a minimal amount to other family members.

I feel like showing love to the family but love is in my view misrepresented when a monetary figure is attached to it

I dont decorate much but my Sweetpea decided to put up a tree, all good. I DO NOT ENJOY TRAIPSING from one store to another during the Holidays.

I go and get what I want but let my sweethear go shopping for what she wants.


Not trying to be rude, crude or anti-social, but to me Christmas is about celebrating with family not filling the coffers of the various retailers.

Since I wasn't raised a Christian, I only have to buy presents for my friends. That makes it better, IMO, than having to get stuff for family, because you know your friends better and they know you better and the presents on both sides will be better .

I like getting deals when shopping for X-Mas presents though

I should shop online, but I tend to wait until the last minute, and I'm afraid I won't get the items in time.

And I'm kind of old fashioned and like to pick up an item in my hand before I buy it. Most of the stuff I bought online is stuff I couldn't find in stores (alpha centauri crossfire and other hard to find games), or I was too embarassed to buy in a store.
