I woder if they did the Egg transferal from one partner to the other who carries the pregnancy to establish mutual claim on the child. Poe's age would seem to make this unlikly unless she had eggs frozen earlier in life.

Tecnicaly theirs nothing inconsistent or hypocritical about any of this so long as the two dont ask to recive official marrige rights/recognition. The administration can still say that they have nothing against gays, their life-styles and their couplings and actualy present Chenys dauter as an example of what is possible without legal recognition. This would ofcorse be a load of BS as we all (well most of us) know their is real homo-phobia in the religious right driving their agenda as the various out cries on this event.

Concerning Mrs. Tuberski defence of lesbian couples raising children, its well established that children of single mothers have things a lot worse off then the average child. But it has not been thourouly established to my knowlage if the root cause of that is A - just plain reduced economic status, B - reduced contact time with parental figures in totality C - the genetic influence of the peoples who fail to form stable relationships (this goes for both the mother and father) contributing to poorer behavior of the childs part. Or as the concervatives imply D - lack of some male-role-model which mothers are incapable or less likly to supply likewise their would need to be a mother-role that males are inherently unable to supply to justify an attack on the equivilent gay couple having a child, presumably through a surogate mother.

As most gays and lesbians are white and of above average economic status A wont be a problem for most same sex couples and especialy not these two. And B would not be any more of an issue then any normal couple, heck you might even see arangments of three or more which could presumably incresse contact and help to compensate for the erosion of the extended family in American culture. C won' be a problem either as I'm shure the father isn't some deadbeat she meet in a bar. So the only way the child can be disadvantaged is is D is true which would be an exceedingly hard thing to prove, infact their would need to be a large group of children born and raised by same sex couples to conduct such a study. I dont doupt that their might be observable differences in personality between the same sex raised children and the traditionaly raised children but I'd be suprized if it was outside of the normal range found between siblings.

Bush didn't have an anti-gay agenda. Bush had an anti-gay-marriage agenda; Cheney never came down on the issue one way or another (he effectively dodged the question by saying it was a matter for the states, not the Feds).

The GOP was so busy frothing at the mouth about gay marriage that gay parenting didn't even raise its head as an issue, so Cheney now has "plausible deniability" on that front.

to use bush's thinking: You are either with gays or against them Bush is clearly against them, which makes his VP the same.

saying that all is ok cause noone ever asked Cheney "what do you think if your lesbian daughter sometime in the future wanted to have a father-less baby?", so be it
