  • Unfortunate choices for brand names.

By now everyone is aware of the problem Chevy had in the 1970's with it's Nova line of cars. Chevrolets had traditionally sold very well in Latin America yet for some reason no one in Spanish speaking countries wanted to buy a car named Nova. It turns out that No Va is Spanish for "no go" or "It doesn't go" but the English speaking engineers back in Detroit didn't catch that until it was to late.

Today I noticed that all new Hyundai brand cars in the US are sold with tires from the Kumho tire company which is promounced "*** Ho". I doubt the poor Koreans understand why everyone laughs at their brand name in English speaking countries.

Does anyone know of any other unfortunate choices for company brand names which they'd like to share?

stupid censor. What is the 3 letter word? Is it *** as in *** for tat? WTF is *** censored? What kind of society do we post in that we can't say *** as in sucking on a mother's ***. What's more innocent than that?

although I doubt those are unfortunate names. I think those were intentional. funny nonetheless.

not to many places in my city use Dick in their name anymore. Dick Blick art supplies has been renamed to Blick arts or something like that.

There used to be a store in Calgary called "PMS Hobbycraft". They had a lot of old ladies working there.

                            But it's now "PM Hobbycraft".
