My goverment is stupid- Piracy tax

Some morons in my government think it's a good idea to put a fixed tax on all recordable media (CD's, DVD's and even bloody computer disks), as a way to, ahem, “fight piracy and evil commies”!

As a result prices have gone (or will go) up and incompetent Slovenian artists (most of which make horrible 2nd rate pop music and silly art films) will be getting the money!!

If you haven’t guessed this is a sympathy thread. I expect condolences and occasional mocking.

Does it give you the right to distribute copies of your bought CDs to friends and family (free of charge) ?

At least this is the way it is in other countries like germany and AFAIK USA.
i.e. recordable media and even CD/DVD writers have an additonal fee on them which goes directly to the GEMA (association of recording companies) but it also gives you the legal right to distribute copies of music CDs/LPs/MCs etc. to people you know personally (at least unless said CDs are copy protected)

the far better place to do it would be in ipods, headphones, speakers, and things like that.
