argh, I hate to think of all the +1's I'm losing because of this thread.

happiness wimps? I'm not sure what you mean. I'd think the opposite. As we'd be willing to tackle the happiness problems of big cities.

In any case the biggest problem with over expanding (either peacefully or through war) is the economy. It's best to wait until after you research code of laws and currency before your next major expansion phase.

You're a happiness wimp, MM. I bet you don't like Pyramids in Diety either.

Um, no, that's not the reason. I like expansion just fine. But if expansion has little to no downside, it becomes the only answer. In SP (note - SP), when the AI can build fine but is a moron tactically, the only choice becomes expansion by warfare.

I have no problem with using war as a tool in Civ. I do have a problem if it's the only choice. That's not strategy.

Incidently, in CIV you can use the Hereditary Rule civic to control unhappiness to an essentially unlimited exent with your military (+1 happy per military unit in city).

Should I continue to try and discuss this with you?

The Pyramids in CivII did, in fact, rock. As did a number of other things that were horribly unbalanced (WLT*D = +1 pop/turn? Are you KIDDING ME?).

The Pyramids in CIV are good but not uber. It's a more balanced game. There are still some things that might not be quite balanced (Rome is prolly a tad overpowered... but frankly I'm fine with that. It's ROME).

What's Rome? Isn't that just the name of the first city that the white tribe makes?

I always screw myself up when I write a sentance out and then make changes and forget to revise the grammar. The sentance started as "Ya know the site outside of the OT isn't scary at all."

But then I changed to "rest of the forums" and forgot to change "isn't"

                *sigh*

                Point stands though.
Can't believe that this is the same ozzy who's always correcting my spelling and my gramma
