Lancer, I'll bet the number of people interested in that email would increase if it were translated into a different language...say, into Spanish, or French, or Finnish, or I dunno, maybe ENGLISH!

Zkrib, yeah that would really help me too.

Basicly the one from Crispy tell the situation which you know, the names of the Phil girls, the number of other nationalies, the email address and phone #s of the agency in Qatar.

The one from Dolores to the embasy in Qatar has all that too, plus an appeal to help the girls.

Consider this Zkrib, it's perfect form for taking to the Phil community as you planned...

I'll have to wait for Dolores to translate that.

              • I was just asking what language it was. The Anglo borrow word "apelyido" is enough to clue me in to the meaning of it.

                • Dolores is from the central Philippines, the Visayan (sp) region. The language is named after it. It's also known as Cebuano. (Cebu being the cap city of the region) Actually the Bohol Island varient of Cebuano known a Boholano. Visayan is perhaps the most usual name. However, the national language it Tagalog and I think this was written in Tagalog.

                  • It's Tagalog. Lots of English loan words, but even more Spanish ones. I'm impressed that I could still read some of it; I expected my Tagolog to evaporate the minute I left the Phils.

                      • Hmmm, yes, apelyido would be Spanish rather than English with the "-ido" suffix. My Spanish is more Spanglish anyway.

Bad American, Lancer! You really should try to make us look better.

                        • Lancer, here's the LINK to the list of Fil-American newspapers that I found.

I figure some of them will pose follow-up questions, which I won't be able to answer. So, I'm lateralling this to you & Dolores 'cause you guys have a better handle at what's going on.

                          • I yanks had invaded the Phillipines 25 years later, then the islands would be spanish english bilingual nowadays, like Puerto Rico.

Now only around 3 million people speak spanish in the philippines (The presidenta speaks spanish)

                            • We didn't invade the Philippines! We invaded Cuba. We just sunk the Spanish fleet in the Philippines.
